Well episode 9 of Game of Thrones has come and gone and fans who don’t like reality with their fantasy are very upset (SPOILERS). I learned about the ending through subtle hints from a friend and it served to calm my flailing at the time, because really, Ned, REALLY?
Also, I’m a fan of CLAMP manga, so I don’t mind this kind of stuff at all because I know story is more important than OTPs etc.
I’m still enjoying Game of Thrones and the first four books have arrived, so I will be able to enjoy it more. I’ve long since gotten over my initial issue with the role of women in the show. Normally, sex and the subjegation of females doesn’t bother me, assuming they have a proper plot value and their purpose isn’t merely that, or I’m not just watching porn. However, it was disturbing to see so much of it, literally in your face in those first two episodes. Some of us blamed it on HBO going for the easy sell, but I see it now as the writers going for the, unfortunately, easy plot device that defines how the women are viewed in this realm and in this time. It does not take long for the women themselves to show us their true power. This is best symbolized by Daenerys Targaryen who moves quickly from being a girl sold by her own brother into whoredom, to a woman on top, both literally and symbolically.
So we still have one episode to go, and happily, despite the big price tag, it’s been signed on for a second season. This means we get to see more of Robb and Snow, who are on the road to awesome. And I have high hopes for Tyrion. No pun intended. I actually just want to see him slap his nephew again.
